How we help Children
The Children
Melrose provides a supportive environment for children between the ages of 4 to 18 years old, who require care and protection in a residential setting. Children of other ages are admitted under special circumstances as well depending on their needs.
Children requiring care are those whose parents or family members are unable (e.g. because of illness or imprisonment) to provide adequate care and supervision. Some children require protection as they have been subject to physical or psychological abuse. The children are referred to the Home by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports as well as other Government agencies, Family Service Centres, hospitals, schools or by their family members.
